Tangerine Tree
Twelve years ago, my dad decided to plant a seed that was inside a really good tangerine. When we moved, he planted it in our backyard. For ten years, it didn't produce any fruit until two years ago. While I was talking to my grandmother on the phone in our back porch, I noticed an orange, sphere-shaped something. It looked like one of those plastic balls that my family plays with sometimes, and I thought we might have just gotten it stuck in the tree. I went outside to investigate, and I was so excited when I saw that it was a tangerine! The tree only produced two tangerines that year, but this fall, it produced dozens of the delicious, tart and juicy fruit! My friend tried to pick one, but he didn't know that there were two-inch-long thorns and ended up with scratches all over his arms. You definately need to be careful around the trees. We gave my grandparents some, and they loved them! It's so neat to be growing food in our own backyard!
